"This is it"

I'd like to start off by introducing myself.  I will be known as 'Vikeologist'.  I am a die hard Vikings fan and also a Vikings season ticket holder since 2002.  I encourage you to follow me on Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/vikeologist

"This is it"  I won't talk about Brett Favre until he reports to the Vikings.  I asked Jay Glazier on Twitter if he thinks Favre will come back before or after the second pre-season game, and he tweeted, "After".   I think everything has been said that needs to be said, and there is no reason to talk about it anymore until he either reports to the Vikings or says he is finished for real this time.

The Vikings have very few position battles this year at camp.  One is at strong safety.  Tyrell Johnson didn't play well last season and was out of position more times than not, and Jamarca Sanford could give Johnson a run for his money.  The safety position isn't a glamour position in a Cover 2 style defense, but small gains turn into big gains if the safety is out of position or is late getting into position.

The other battle is for the third string running back spot.  Albert Young is the favorite and Ryan Moats and Darius Reynaud also figure in to the equation.  Moats comes over from the Texans and Reynaud was a wide receiver with the Vikings and was moved to running back after last season.  Moats has been a let down for the most part during his career thus far, and Reynaud has looked explosive in the backfield during mini camp and OTA's.

The Vikings will likely return all 22 starters from last season, something that is virtually unheard of in this day and age of free agency.  The battles are few and far between, and someone is going to have to really make an impression to move up the depth charts.

We will now have football every weekend until February!  GO VIKES!
