I have played 3,496 full seasons on Madden 2010, but in all of my "research" I could never have predicted or projected this would happen. "This" being the story of Atari Bigby. As we have moved along in training camp, it has become more apparent each day that Atari believes he is in a video game. First he held out for a multi year, multi million dollar contract that never came, but finally signed his RFA Tender (which was later reduced). In doing so, he missed all of the off-season workouts and mini-camp which opened the door for a position battle at Strong Safety with Rookie Morgan Burnett. Finally the time had come to begin training camp and surely we could put all this behind us, Atari would have the opportunity to show them he was worth a big dollar contract, secure his starting role and then we can sim the rest of the season right? Wrong!
Bigby apparently hurt his ankle while taking his conditioning test to open camp and has sat out each practice, meanwhile, assuring the team his ankle was not hurt prior to this point at any time during the off-season when he was trying to secure his payday. We now find out that Bigby's ailing ankle will require a scope that will take place today requiring him to miss around 4 weeks, which means he could start the season on the PUP (physically unable to perform) list which would make him unavailable the first six weeks of the season.
This all looks very suspect to me and it seems that he has handed the SS job over to Morgan Burnett on a silver platter and almost assuring that his big payday is nowhere in the near future. Too bad he didn't try this scenario on Madden first otherwise he could be well on his way to earning that multi year, multi million dollar contract as we speak.
