Percy Harvin MIA: Childress Taking New Approach

While Percy Harvin missed his 15th straight practice after leaving 8 days ago for the death of his grandmother, Brad Childress is taking a new approach to a familiar situation.  If we all remember, in 2007 then Vikings WR Troy Williamson was fined $25,000 for missing 3 practices and a game due to the death of his grandmother although Childress later had a change of heart and returned the money.

“The thing that I’ve learned is that everybody grieves differently.  That’s just the facts.  You’ve got to be able to respect that and appreciate that,” Childress was quoted.  However, offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell may have given more insight into the current situation when he mentioned that Harvin is dealing with some personal issues.  Perhaps there is more going on or simply the stress has triggered his migraines.  Either way, the coaching staff seems content to let Harvin return when he is ready to return as they have given no indication of a timeline.

*Note* With Sidney Rice and Harvin both sitting out of practices over the last week and a half, Brett Favre would not be getting much timing down with his wide receivers even if he were in camp.

  1. Looks like the offense is saying "Well if Favre isn't going to come to camp, I am just not going to play." I think All Day is the only starter taking reps. They play the Super Bowl champs the first week of the season. You think they would all want to be ready. I know it is just preseason and it is still about 5 weeks away but camp is still important. Vikings are going to start 0-1.
