"Hello, my name is Bryan, and I'm addicted to the Minnesota Vikings"
The first step in the recovery process is admitting you have a problem, and yes folks, I have a major one. Thanks to BitterBorderBattle, you'll get to join me throughout the year as I fiend for all things purple.
As many Vikings fans, I have been brainwashed since birth by my father, to love this team. I remember holding the ladder so he could adjust the antenna for better reception. If someone would have told me there would be such a thing as NFL Sunday Ticket back then I probably would have thought they were nuts. Really, the Vikings werent just the local team, they were the ONLY team on television back in the 80's. Years of tears of joy and pain have molded me into what I've become, throwing shoes at the TV, cussing out Tommy Kramer and calling him a drunk, falling in love with Anthony Carter, thinking we were going to the Super Bowl after the Herschel Walker trade, yes, what was happening was legalized brainwashing by my old man.Fast forward to present time and I've become hardened as a Vikings fan to the point where I've come to expect disappointment and actually relish in it. You don't become a sadist overnight, and I don't think I need to go into detail what happened in 1998 and 2009. Countless other "mini tragedies" come to mind, but you get the point. Now I have a brother and son who are realizing that pain, and in a weird way we wear it as a badge of honor. You don't invest this much time into something without becoming obsessed with it.
I like the concept of BitterBorderBattle, to me the Vikings/Packers is the best rivalry in the entire NFL. Sure, Bears/Packers has the tradition, Browns/Steelers is intense, Washington/Dallas has alot of hoopla but this rivalry is as good as it gets.
I'm excited for this season, I'll be a weekly contributer on alot of things, from my own opinions on and off the field. I'm definetly looking forward to it, and if this year turns out as good for me from strictly a Vikings/Packers standpoint, I'll be happier than Johnny Jolly with is face buried in a medicine cabinet filled with codeine.

Glad to have you on the team Brian. Your addition is going to make for great football talk. It is just too bad that you are going to be in for another disappointing season.
